Hello. Welcome to my website. It started while I was in Europe for a semester, and I've kept it up since then. I'm now at the University of Chicago Law School, living in Hyde Park, and the story continues. If you want to say hi or visit me, email cfloyd at uchicago dot edu.
"Life is nothing if not the sum of your anecdotes." -Scotty The Body, on storytelling "But it ain't that bad, man. Just figure out the system before the system figures out you." -T. Matthew Smith, on the 1L year "The beer just doesn't taste as good when you're not drinking it with your buddies." -Anon., on being away from good friends "Somebody has to pay the rent around here. Why the hell not us?" -Cotton, on studying for exams

I'm having a Halloween party Saturday night. If you're in the area you should come. And I need suggestions for party music, so go here and help me out.

I got back from Texas last week. I was gone to interview with several firms in Dallas and Houston, but there also happened to be a game. A huge game - the Red River Shootout. Thanks to the Body's mom, I got a ticket to the game for face value. I hadn't been to a Sooners game for over a year, and I hadn't been to the Cotton Bowl since 2002 (remember Roy Williams' superman leap?)
It was, predictably, a great experience. The game was at 11am, so I got to the fair early and had a corn dog and a Dr. Pepper for breakfast. We got to our seats in plenty of time for the kickoff. When the Pride of Oklahoma marching band took the field I nearly got choked up. All my undergraduate football memories flooded back as the band major came on to the field and the Pride marched down behind him. It was awesome. As was the game, of course, as the Sooners beat Texas for the fifth straight time and shut Texas out for the first time in twenty four years.
That night I continued my string of Dallas shows at the Gypsy Tearoom, where Django Walker and No Justice opened up for Jason Boland and the Stragglers. Django Walker played a great show, and Jason Boland was very enjoyable, although he was inebriated and thus abbreviated. These guys live the life a little too much, methinks. I also got to see the littler sister and meet some of her friends, which was great.
I got back, like I said, last week. Swamped. I remain behind in half of my classes. I changed out the pads on my back brakes, but I still need to paint my bedroom. Chores, chores. School is better these days, though. Not as much pressure now that I'm not a 1L, And at this point I know I'll have a job this summer, though I'm not sure which one it will be. So no worries.
Some guys at school and I have put together a strong flag football team. We hope to sweep the Men's Graduate division and then win the university tournament. I also referee flag football, which is a good time. I actually got a bit of sun Sunday, as I stood outside reffing for four hours. I predict that will be the last time the sun changes my skin tone until April, as lows are in the 30s and not going up. Fall in Chicago is like Shania Twain: pretty but short.
I may spend more time on the messageboard, but I promise to try to keep up the blog. Soon this will move to a new URL, giving me more web power to work with. Stay tuned.

I had to get on a plane back from Dallas, so I missed most of the Sooner game today. Fill me in on the details and your impressions - i.e., is our weakened defense going to be a serious liability; just how good is Peterson really; any chance at all White is on track for another Heisman; etc.
